Quick Overview

Dr. Carl J. Logan thought he had escaped the claws of growing up in a small Arkansas town with few prospects for the future. He believed that he had left behind the horrors of a life on the streets of San Francisco almost 15 years where cocaine became his only god. With a conversion experience, a successful career as a church planter and a Doctor of Ministry degree, he moved into the realm of respectability and success. With his status as a servent of God established and the phone ringing off the hook with ministry opportunities, he thought that he had put all the demons of his past behind him. It was only when prospect of divorce sent him into the pit of pain that he realized that the old demons were still lusting for his soul and that he must look them in the eye while he travels with God through the wasteland of pain.

This book catalogues the pain that divorce can bring to a minister whose theology and upbringing do not permit or allow divorce. In the middle of this pain there is recognition that the factors leading to divorce have their roots in issues as far back as childhood and family dynamics. Without seeking to excuse himself for his failures as husband, Dr. Logan walks through his painful past, highlighting issues that maybe important to other pastors or lay people in or considering marriage.
